What a year! As 2020 draws to a close, it appears there is light at the end of this seemingly unending tunnel. Just this morning, I got an alert on my phone that the first vaccinations in the US began this morning with our well deserving healthcare workers. While we still have a LONG way to go, I’m feeling hopeful this morning.
Not only has this been a tough year, but the holiday season feels not quite right. Or is that just me?
How do we embrace the sparkles and the celebration when there is still so much heartache surrounding us?
My pastor Tom Berlin, lead pastor at Floris UMC, is hosting a series of Christmas Conversations on his FB page this month to talk about how to navigate this unique season. I was honored to be invited to join him this past Wednesday evening and I love how our conversation unfolded. Once again, we used the framework of my favorite poem by Mary Oliver to consider how to cultivate, celebrate and instigate joy this holiday season:
Tom is wise, humble, kind and funny, so I know you will love our conversation. Warning, we are both Enneagram 7s, so there is plenty of ENTHUSIASM when you get the two of us together. đ
Let me know what you think!
Wishing you and yours the very merriest Christmas and praying for all of us to experience a better 2021!
