What might you do if you decided to agree with God once and for all?
Who might you be if you allowed God to name you Beloved?
Our theme verse in this community, prominently displayed on the home page, is 2 Timothy 1:7:
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline.
In this verse, God says we have already received, through the indwelling of His Spirit, the gift of resurrection power, agape love and something alternately described as self-discipline, self-control, a sound mind or sound judgment. We have the ability to make change happen, the capacity to care deeply, and the wisdom to make healthy choices. Click To Tweet
At least that’s what God says.
Do you agree? At your core, do you believe these words are true? Not just about other people, but even you?
Do we believe IN God? Or do we BELIEVE God?
Of course, this conversation begins with the premise that the words in the Bible contain wisdom and truth that make a difference in how we decide to live our life. My questions only apply to you if you believe scripture is inspired by Something or Someone who has a deeper understanding of who we are and why we are here. If you don’t agree that there is anything meaningful within these pages, then who cares what Paul said to Timothy 2,000 years ago?
But, if you call yourself a follower of Jesus, or a Christian, or some other label that identifies you as a person who cares what God thinks, then my question IS for you.
Do you agree with God?
And if you did agree, if you REALLY believed you are filled right this minute with a Spirit of power, love and self-discipline, would your life change?
Mine did.

Thrilled to be joining my friends at Five Minute Friday today. Our practice is to write for five minutes on a single word prompt and see what we create! I love seeing how each of us have our own unique, but equally beautiful interpretation of each week’s word. Today’s word prompt is AGREE.
I always find myself clinging to those last threads that keep me from believing my name is Beloved. My agreeing is a work in progress. Thank you for the reminder of what can be! Your almost neighbor at #fmf, Cindy
My agreeing is a work in progress too, Cindy. Every day, over and over again, we begin the process of accepting the freedom God has to offer. And little by little, we begin to really believe. You are Beloved, sister!
I do believe.. For sure. But then…I doubt, doubt in myself and just everything sometimes. Gah, it’s a hard thing sometimes!!
I think that is a normal part of this journey with Spirit, don’t you? We hold tight to God for a while and then we get distracted by the voices of the world who keep us believing lies about ourselves. It is hard, but a battle worth fighting because our Abba Father won’t ever give up on setting us free. Thanks for stopping by!
